On April 27, 2017, Dr. Yifan Zhang presented a webinar titled "Investigating food and environmental reservoir of antimicrobial resistance".

Dr. Yifan Zhang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Nutrition and Food Science at Wayne State University, Michigan. She earned her PhD in Food Science from the University of Maryland, College Park. Prior to joining the Wayne State faculty, Dr. Zhang worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at The Ohio State University. Her research is on molecular characterization and risk analysis of foodborne bacteria, food and agricultural reservoir of antimicrobial resistance, urban agriculture, and the development of novel food safety control. Dr. Zhang is currently leading two USDA projects aiming to ensure food safety and sustainability in urban agriculture and to determine the extent of antimicrobial resistance reservoir in urban agricultural production. She is an Editorial Board member of Journal of Food Protection, and member of International Association of Food Protection (IAFP), Institute of Food Technologists (IFT), and American Society for Microbiology (ASM).
