Ecolab RD & E Position

Position: Director/Specialist, Food Safety, Greater China and Asia Pacific

Division: Corporate RD&E

Reports to: Vice President, GC & AP RD&E, Vice President, Food Safety (Global RD&E)

Location: Ecolab China Innovation Center

1. Position Purpose & Scope

♦ Enhance Ecolab’s reputation as a global leader in Food Safety in support of business’s needs.

o Provide tangible fact-based evidence to current and potential customers, Industry and community.

o Identify and expand Ecolab’s Food Safety intervention product and service opportunities from farm to table 

♦ Provide technical support and consultation to key global food service, manufacturing and retail customers on high level food safety issues.

o Champion to idealize, innovate, promote, liaise food safety research and development 

♦ Provide direction related to Ecolab’s external activities and funding related to Food Safety knowledge management

o Monitor and influence regulatory activities in Food Safety that would impact Ecolab or its major customers

o Identify acquisition, partnership and technology licensing opportunities related to Food Safety and emerging intervention technologies

o Represent Ecolab’s international Food Safety interests with government agencies, trade organizations and academic institutions with strong food safety programs.

♦ Lead Ecolab’s Food Safety Efforts in China with global coordination

o Facilitate cross-divisional communication of ongoing Food Safety initiatives

♦ Assess food safety needs to benefit our businesses across Asia Pacific region and develop strategic plan to optimally support

3. Position Requirements – Director/Specialist, Food Safety

♦ Academic: Ph.D. in Food Science with extensive training in food microbiology / food safety or Microbiology backgrounds with food safety focus. Advanced degree awarded from a reputable university in either China or U.S.

♦ Professional Experience:

At least 5 years’ experience in the Food Industry or Academic Institute with emphasis on Food Safety issues.

Track record of participation / leadership in academic and trade associations in the area of Food Safety.

National / International reputation as an expert / leader in Food Safety issues affecting the Food Industry.

♦ Others:

Strategic thinking and assessment skills.

Proficient in writing and speaking Mandarin and English.

Influential communication skills.

Experience collaborating with large multidisciplinary teams preferred
